The Commission for Traffic and Transport (CVT) of the House of Representatives approved on Wednesday (14) an amendment that destines R $ 200 million to construction of access to the Port of Santos. Now, the request goes to the Joint Budget Committee, so that the budget, which is already guaranteed to be released and applied next year.
In August, CVT’s deputies were at the Port of Santos and near known bottlenecks in the access – especially transport – to the complex. Therefore, the amendment proposed by Congressman Edinho Araújo (PMDB-SP), Ports former minister, was unanimously approved by the parliamentary commission.
The visit to the Santos pier, on 10 August last, was articulated by Congressman John Paulo Tavares Papa (PSDB-SP), the CVT member.
“(The amendment) was an important victory, visiting fruit. So it was very important that most or all (the Commission members) have gone to the port, “said Pope.
During Wednesday’s debates (14), some lawmakers CVT questioned the fact of R $ 200 million being directed only to the Santos pier, since the amendments need to meet national guideline. However, because they know the problems in access to the Port, they ended up agreeing with the investment proposal. Pope recalled the importance of the Santos pier at the disposal of national production.
The parliamentarian stressed how decisive the participation of Mrs Clarissa Garotinho (PR-RJ), who is the Chairman of the Committee, to mediate the debate, as it was also in Santos and met the reality of the complex.
Pope also cited the importance of a public hearing that discussed the problems of access to the port for two months in the federal capital. At the time, as well as parliamentarians, then attended the Minister for Ports, Edinho Araújo, the state secretary of Logistics and Transport, Duarte Nogueira, and the mayors Paulo Alexandre Barbosa (Santos) and Maria Antonieta de Brito (Guaruja).
