Paper Toy

The project
Alphamar always seeks innovation and believes that qualification of our staff is the backbone of our values. A big part of our leadership positions in Alphamar are held by talented professionals who started with experience in neither shipping agency nor in international trade, and with due training and educational incentives, they are being professionally recognized in the field. However, through this experience we understand that the knowledge of shipping in Brazil for those not directly involved in this market is very much a grey area and we believe it should be better understood.
On this basis we decided to take a proactive step to create the Paper Toy – Grain Export Terminal project which will help bring an understanding to a wider population especially considering that agriculture exports play such a vital role, not only in the Brazilian economy but worldwide.

Silos:
Of fast assemblage and less cost, the storage in silos is very common in rural areas and in some terminals in Brazil. The start line for grains to the ports usually begins in a silo.
Warehouse
The grains warehouses are bigger structures, usually split for different cargoes. Besides, they allow to better control of the cargoes’ condition and guarantee the ideal quality for the cargo to be loaded.
Conveyor Belt
Up to their arrival in the vessel´s holds, the grains pass through a system of conveyor belts that reach the ship-loaders before being loaded. Each terminal uses slightly varying equipment, but in general they can load an average of 2,000 tons of soybeans per hour, subject to weather conditions and other Terminal stoppages.
Vessels
The bulk vessels vary in size, depending on the contract of cargo to be handled or restrictions at either loading or discharging ports. In some terminals, it is necessary to contract vessels with cranes so that they can load themselves. Most however due to efficiency purposes are loaded by sh0re equipment.

The Paper Toy is a 3D model based on actual structures. It came up as an educational alternative to bring this kind of knowledge to people. As the agribusiness becomes more important to our country, we looked for ways to demonstrate to people so they could understand more about grain elevation along with its important aspects, as well as they could be comfortable to seek knowledge and join this promising business.
